We decided to take a camping/ ATV trip. We left on Thursday and went down to Marysvale. We spent the weekend riding on the Paiute ATV trail. The whole trail is over 275 miles long with thousands of side trails. So we only rode a small portion of it. We did total 175 miles in four days. We left Thursday afternoon drove to Marysvale, parked the truck, loaded the trailers we had bought to pull behind the ATV's and headed up the trail to find a camp spot. We found this pretty little meadow not far off the trail. It was a great spot!
There were lots of wild mountain strawberries that the boys loved eating. Friday we got up and took off to ride! We took one trail that ended up no where but the views were great.
At one point we had to go under this tree. Kelly couldn't get low enough to drive under so David had to drive. He thought that was great. (It wasn't his first time driving we have let him drive a couple of times before with Kelly on the back.)
We ended up coming out right a Big Rock Candy Mountain. So we stopped and bought some rock candy. I thought there used to be more of a gift shop but it is mostly just a restaurant. Later that afternoon a quick rain shower came through. We were out riding and didn't really have any where to go so we ended up hiding out under a tree eating our lunch!
On Saturday we took a loop that landed us over in the small town of Joseph and then back around to Marysvale we were stopped and got an ice cream cone at the gas station and then rode up to Miner's Park. A lot of the history for this area is Mining so we took a few snap shots by the old mining equipment.
Later that afternoon we had a real down poor. Luckily we had made it back to camp just in time. The boys and I hid out in the tent. Kelly who had to go to the bathroom got stuck in the trees. It was quite the storm with lots of hail and rain. After the storm let up we decided to jump back on the four wheelers and head down to a restaurant called Hoovers. (It was close to Big Rock Candy Mountain and was only about nine miles down the trail). On Saturday nights they serve all you can eat crab. Kelly loved it.
It was fun to ride the four wheelers right up to a restaurant, get out and eat, and then go back to camp. Crab, steak, hamburgers, and corn dogs on a camping trip is not the usual but was great food and fun! Sunday morning we got up, cleaned up camp and rode back to the truck and then back home.
The only real hiccup of the trip was the flat tire on the trailer just outside of Nephi.
We had a great trip and would do it again in a heart beat. These are times I hope the kids remember as they get older. I couldn't resist throughing in one more picture of Kage and how nasty his nose always is! He is always a little bit of a mess but here he is a big mess! Love him anyways.
