Thanksgiving
We have had a fantastic Thanksgiving break. We spent most of Thanksgiving skiing/boarding at Brighton. It was chilly but it was still way fun. Here is the parking lot at about 2:30. It was practically empty which made for a great day.
The boys after a day of boarding! Cold, happy faces.

When we got home we made dinner. We fried a turkey. It looked really good when it came out and tasted even better.
Here is our table all ready for our yummy Thanksgiving dinner. We had a quiet night with good food after a fun day on the slopes.
We decided to make a Gingerbread House from scratch again this year. It was a three day project. It started on Friday with the design and baking the gingerbread pieces. Then on Saturday we assembled the house. Kelly was in charge of designing and help constructing the house. The boys helped with their opinion of what the house should look like. Kelly ended getting his Dremmel out to cut some of the pieces.
Sunday we decorated the house. I made hard candy for the windows. For the most part the boys decided where all the rest of the candy would go. It turned out to be a very fun house!

November so far
November so far has been filled with lots of school projects. At the beginning of the month David had a wax museum. He learned about Joseph Medicine Crow. Here he is with his poster.
The boys both participated in reflections this year. Here is Kage with his participation ribbon.
David and his participation ribbon. He actually gets to move on to the district level. (Sort of by default because they take the top three on and there were only three entries).

Here is David's reflections entry.
Kage had a school program on Veterans Day. They did patriotic songs and paid tribute to Veterans.
The last few weeks David has been working on his rocket. He was able to get it built mostly by himself.

October
October was filled with a few fun Fall activities. Over Fall break we met a lot of my family at Cornbelly's. We enjoyed a hay ride.
Amber, Gregg, B, David, and Kelly all took a turn on the mechanical bull. Here is Kelly taking his turn.

Of course we always have fun with Halloween. Here I am with my class all dressed up.
David was a viking for Halloween.
Kage was a mummy.

On Saturday Kelly spent all day putting up his tunnel that he did last year. We were all done and a wind storm came up that afternoon and blew it down. So last minute this is what he ended up with. It was a little disappointing but still turned out fun.

September
The last three months have gone by in a flurry. I can't believe that it is almost Thanksgiving. Here is my attempt at a little catch up on blogging. I haven't seem to have the time since school started. Here is a picture of the boys on the first day of school.
September 1st is David's Birthday. He wanted to go to Trafalga so after school that's where we headed. My Mom and Dad joined David, Kage, and I. (Kelly was out of town for work). We played a round of mini-golf and then played a whole bunch of arcade tokens.
After Trafalga we headed over to P.F. Changs for dinner.

On Labor Day the boys and I headed to the Zoo. It was probably the most crowded I had ever seen the zoo but we still had a lot of fun.

Hellfire 15
This last weekend we spent our time out on the Boneville Salt Flats for Hellfire 15. We were of course part of the set up crew so we went out on Wednesday afternoon to set up. The next four days were all about rockets. Kelly had spent a lot of time over the summer building rockets to fly out here at hellfire. This rocket is one he found different materials and created from scratch (usually he builds rockets from kits). This rocket went up really well but the nose cone didn't come off and it crashed on landing. Not to much damage though, it will fly again.
Here is Kage as we were setting up. He wore Kelly's hat to help keep the sun off. The sun is very intense out on the salt. Poor Kage still ended up with blisters on his chin because of the reflection off the salt.
On Thursday morning a little mouse came running across the salt. We were all shocked because of the extreme environment of the salt. With some help from one on the vendors the boys caught the mouse. David kept putting on the gloves and holding the mouse. By the end of the day the poor mouse seemed to really be struggling, the next morning Grandpa took the mouse over to the hills and let it go. Hopefully it survived.
I was terrible at taking pictures this weekend. We were joined with friends and family on this trip as well but I didn't take pictures of any of them. Kelly's Dad and SueAnn came out with us on Wednesday. Kelly's brother and his son Tanner flew out from Texas to spend the weekend with us. We also had our friend and neighbor Dave Anderson and his son Derek with us Thursday to Sunday. We had the Reykerts come out on Friday but we were unfortunately rained out that afternoon shortly after they got there. (We had a micro burst storm come through that just about destroyed our tent and a lot of the gear we had, it was really scary for a few minutes). Saturday we had the Braithwaite's come out and spend most of the day with us. Just after they left we had another wind storm come through and blow everything around again. (At least there was no lightning and rain with this storm). We also spent a lot of time this weekend swimming at the pool and eating a lot of food at the buffet! We had a great time. Thanks to all of the friends and family we got to spend time with.

Four Wheeling in Cache Valley
Saturday the boys and I went with my Mom and Dad up to Logan to do a little four wheeling with Ashley and her family. It was a great day (except a little trouble with one of our four wheelers not running properly). First thing we saw a Moose and calf. We also had a group of airplanes fly over with a refuler that was pretty cool to see. They seemed so close because we were in the mountains. The wild flowers were so pretty. We had a great day! Thanks for the invite Ash & B.
July's Happenings
This month we have been busy with many different activities. We tried another night of dinner around the world. The kids wanted Chinese food. It was okay but I think I would rather just get take out next time.
The boys and I enjoyed the Steele Days Parade with Amber, Gregg, and boys, and Mom and Dad. They ended up with a lunch bag completely full.
We didn't do much to celebrate the 24th of July. We did a few sparklers and smoke bombs that evening. The boys always enjoy those.
July is Day camp time for the boys at Jeremiah Johnson Day Camp for Cub Scouts. David was able to go to Weblos camp. They needed parent help with the Wolves and Bears so I volunteered to go. David came with us. We only had eight boys total. It was fun to see what the boys did at camp.
